Description
This is my interpretation of a what if; "what if EMD produced a 6 cylinder version of the 710? What would it be used for?". Well my conclusion was a Genset. I've seen existing gensets and I tell you they're not pretty so part of it was to make a genset that was powered by a traditional locomotive engine and not make it an eye sore. Through making this one loco I realised that there are other possible configurations available if different generator 'packets' were used and changed.
This is also the first debut of that new bogie under a loco and tell you what, it makes a loco look a whole lot better! I also managed to figure out how to model a coupler with this one so that's another first for me.
Some other shots of this loco: [link] [link]
The concept of a genset loco is that you do not have one huge engine running and using fuel, but a series of smaller engines using less fuel by only running and using the power you need. For example, you don't need a 4,400hp locomotive to move 10 cars, 1,650hp (the approx. rating for a single 6 cylinder packet) is plenty enough for that.
Enjoy everyone
As always, the method to the model number madness:
G - Cab at one end
T - turbocharged engien
362 - 36 would be the model for a 6 cylinder 710 but 36 already assigned to a 16 cylinder version of an older engine so the 6 cylinder would be the second to use the number, hence the 2 at the end)
C - Co wheel arrangement (3 axels per bogie or 'truck')

MG Multipurpose Locomotives and BG shunting Locomotives of India can have this engine. Since 1 x 6N-710G3 produces only 1650 HP, it is More Than Enough for the above mentioned locomotives.
GT36/2ACe-MG
This is a Metre Gauge Multipurpose Locomotive for India and will be addressed as "YDM-5"
Where
Y = Metre Gauge
D = Diesel Power
M = Multipurpose
5 = Serial No
GT36/2ACe-BG
This is a Broad Gauge Shunting Locomotive for India and will be addressed as "WDS-7"
Where
W = Broad Gauge
D = Diesel Power
S = Shunting
7 = Serial No
